Dreaming about a dog blocking your way
What does it mean to dream a dog will not let you pass?
Distinct from the chase reports, and the difference is that nothing happens.
The dog stands in the doorway, at the top of the stairs, on the path. It does not attack. Dreamers describe standing there, describe not being able to get past, and frequently describe not being frightened exactly.
This is the blocked-route structure rather than an animal one. The locked door, the corridor that stops, the stairs that will not go up: dreams sustain the obstacle far better than they resolve it, and almost nobody in this database goes through anyway.
The refusing finding applies here too. Dreamers rarely try to pass, rarely speak to the dog, rarely go round. Evaluation is largely offline, so the obvious moves do not arrive.

Noticing that you never tried to get past is the useful part, and it usually transfers to more than the dream.
Where it is harder
Reported alongside a waking situation the dreamer feels stopped by, and the correspondence is close enough that dreamers name it themselves.

Did I try to get past? Was the dog aggressive or just there? Where was I trying to go?
