Why can I not count properly in a dream?
Dreams do not count, and once you know that a great deal of otherwise strange dream content becomes ordinary.
Dreamers count, count again, and get a different answer, and frequently do not find this strange at the time.
There was never a fixed number of things. Quantity is a property nothing tracks, so recounting produces a fresh generation rather than a check, exactly as searching a bag twice produces two different bags.
This is one of the most useful pages in the database for reading everything else, because it explains the multiplying rabbits, the impossible bag, the extra fingers and the seats that do not match the guests, all at once.
