Money is the worst possible object for a dream to render. It is covered in fine text, it carries a number, and both are things dreaming cannot hold still. So a dreamer who looks closely at a note is running a reality check without meaning to, and it fails every time.
That makes this one of the better dream signs available, and unlike hands or clocks it arrives at a moment when somebody has a real reason to look carefully.
