Dreaming about glass
Glass does two things in dreams and they are unrelated: it separates without concealing, and it breaks. The separating version is the more distinctive, and dreamers describe being able to see somebody and not reach them.

The barrier is the more interesting report. Dreamers describe a pane between them and a person, full visibility, and no contact.
Shouting through it and not being heard is common and is the speech-failure finding with an explanation supplied by the setting.
Breaking glass is the second version and is reported with a specific alarm that dreamers connect to the sound, which is notable given how sparingly dreams produce audio.
Walking on broken glass is a third and is one of the few images that reliably produces reported pain, alongside thorns and stings.

Positive readings
Little in the dream. The barrier is a good check: try to touch what you can see.
Difficult readings
The unreachable-person version is genuinely sad and dreamers frequently connect it to somebody real without prompting.
The pain reports are mild but notable, since dreams under-report pain badly.
Psychological perspectives
A transparent barrier is an efficient way for a dream to produce separation without removing the person, and it requires nothing the dream cannot do: no reaching has to succeed, and vision is what dreams generate best.
The shouting failure is the ordinary speech finding, and the setting is supplying a reason for something that would have happened anyway.
The pain is worth flagging with the thorns and bee entries as an untested pattern: small sharp sensations appear to be within what a dream can approximate where larger injuries are not.
Cultural and historical
Broken mirrors carry a specific European superstition and the mirror entry covers that.
Glass as a barrier is a modern image, since large panes are recent, and the interpretive traditions have nothing on it.
