What does it mean to dream the rules keep changing?
Reported, and accepted without objection at the time, which is the finding rather than the change.
The rules alter, the goal moves, the scoring is different, and nobody remarks on it including the dreamer.
That is the same machinery as the place that becomes another place and the person who becomes somebody else. Nothing is tracking the earlier state, so nothing can notice a contradiction, and the new version is simply the version.
The retroactive quality appears here too: people regularly report that the new rules had always been the rules, which is the backwards application the place-that-is-two-places entry describes.
