What does it mean to dream about giving birth?
Read the dreamer first. During pregnancy these are near-universal, frequently anxious, and generally about the birth itself: complications, being unprepared, or something being wrong. Increased dream recall and vividness during pregnancy is well documented, and anxious birth dreams are a normal part of it rather than a sign about the pregnancy.
Outside pregnancy the reports read differently. Dreamers describe the arrival rather than the labour, and frequently report no pain at all, which would be a strange omission if the dream were about the physical event.
Men report this dream too, which is worth stating because it is usually assumed not to happen and because it settles what the dream is doing.
