What does it mean to dream you cannot turn round?
The second and quite separate theme, and it is the being-watched material approached from the body.
Dreamers describe the certainty that something is behind them and the specific inability to turn round. Being unable to look behind is reported often and is one of the more frustrating dream constraints.
The constraint has an economical explanation. Behind the dreamer is exactly the region a dream has not generated, since attention has never been there, so turning would demand a whole scene at once. The dream withholds the turn rather than produce it.
