Dreaming somebody is waiting for you
What does it mean to dream somebody has been waiting for you?
The reports describe arrival rather than encounter. Somebody is already there, has been waiting, and shows no impatience.
Recognition is common and is frequently of somebody who has died, which puts a large share of these reports with the bereavement material where they are generally described as comforting.
It is published as the deliberate counterpart to the Bestiary entry about the presence behind a door, and the comparison is the point. One is a presence that is certain and unseen and produces dread; this is a presence that is certain and seen and produces calm.
Same machinery, opposite result, which is the argument both entries exist to make.
What the reports agree on
Among the most comforting reports in either archive, and dreamers rarely wish they had not had them.
Where they differ, and what to be careful of
Waking is hard where the person has died, as throughout the grief material.
Worth recording if this was yours
Who was waiting? How long had they been? Was anything said?
Dream interpretation is subjective. Nothing here is a diagnosis, a prediction, or medical advice.
