Dreaming the food is not ready and people are waiting
What does it mean to dream you cannot get a meal finished?
Cooking dreams are unfinished-task dreams with an audience, and the waiting people are what distinguish them from the rest of that family.
The packing dream, the exam with more questions and the suitcase that will not close all have the same structure: effort applied continuously, a deadline present, no progress toward done. What cooking adds is that somebody is expecting something.
Dreamers describe the guests as patient, which is the detail worth noticing. Very few report anybody complaining, and the pressure is entirely anticipated.
That is the exposure structure sitting on top of the task structure, and it is why these feel worse than the equivalent dream done alone.
